This is a story I wrote at the Pila Ministry when they were teaching the kids creative writing and instructing the children to write a story.  I wrote one of mine.  Here it is:

Once upon a time, there was a girl. She woke up in a strange world and was confused about where she was. No one spoke her language and she didn’t recognize anyone around her. Nevertheless, everyone was kind to her and she could understand some things with their body language. It seemed like everyone spoke so fast but she wondered if others thought she spoke fast in her own language.

Over time, she made friends and found people who spoke a little bit of her language. She practiced speaking the foreign language and eventually, she learned how to communicate. She started to love the language and the people.

Then she found someone else like her. Someone else who woke up in a strange land and didn’t know anyone. The girl who could now communicate with the people took the second girl in and taught her about the people. She showed her how kind everyone was and the second girl realized how lovely everyone was. The two girls lived happily ever after in the foreign land with the people they loved.

The End

What does this story tell you about me?

I feel alone and I have to figure out everything on my own. However, there is hope in this new land to learn the language and to find love in the people. There is also a place to help people in this struggle. There is hope that I will find somebody like me who struggles with the same things. Thank you, Lord!

Nevertheless, my time in Guatemala is coming to an end.

I am leaving Reindom ministry today and going to Antigua, Guatemala for a two week debrief.  Though I’ve struggled with the transition here that has had nothing to do with this ministry. God is here and there is a part of me that wants to continue to help this ministry. What they are doing is changing the lives of the next generation. I believe in this ministry. I believe in what they are doing. They are serving God as they serve these kids.

“Lord, continue to be with them. Give them prosperity in this ministry. Let them see you even more in the work they do, God.”
